Lisa, the force behind this slice of heaven, has created a patchwork shop with a country theme and an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s air-conditioned for comfortable respite from the heat, offers panoramic views of the bay to relax stitchers as they do a class.  Lisa opened Heavenly Patchwork in February 2003 because, she wanted to combine her love of patchwork with her long’ held ambition to run her own business and Heavenly Patchwork is the result.

Patchwork came into Lisa’s life 21 years ago quite by default. “My mum would invite me along to her patchwork group meeting and I kept putting her off because I didn’t like hand-sewing”, she smiles at the memory. But eventually Lisa went along to keep her Mum happy and before she knew it was well and truly addicted. Ï haven’t looked back since’, she declares happily.

Lisa has created a divine shop with a wide range of kits, block of the month projects, patterns, buttons, haberdashery and giftware along with an industrial machine-quilting service.  As well, there are patchwork classes each day and one night a week, all conducted in a friendly, helpful and unintimidating atmosphere. “We’ll always teach you a project from the beginning and take you right through to when it’s totally finished – not just until the top is stitched,”says Lisa.  “A quilt isn’t finished until the label is sewn on.”

Heavenly Patchwork have classes for beginners, an online quilt club, a wonderful Wednesday quilt group, annual weekend retreats and a special evening class that runs all night – from 7pm Saturday to 7am Sunday.  Children’s classes also available throughout the school holidays. Ïf you have a pattern you’ve always wanted to make but don’t know how.”Lisa offers, “just bring it along and we’ll show you what to do.”

Best of all, they serve morning tea and coffee free with each class – sometimes with homemade biscuits!
